Jeré James

Artistic Director

With a foundation of over two decades dancing, Jeré James exemplifies the adage “dance is a discipline.”  She has more than ten  years of experience in production and rehearsal management and served as active Rehearsal Director of The Center for Contemporary Dance’s Moore Dance Project for the past five years. Ms. James’ responsibilities in that role included choreography, scheduling auditions and rehearsals, directing rehearsals as needed, and leading company classes.  Additionally, she directed pre-professional studies as well as the award-winning Several Eights competitive dance ensemble at The Center for Contemporary Dance.

Early on, Jeré trained under the direction of Joan Miller with the Palm Beach Ballet Center.  Her passion, discipline, and talent led her to a coveted summer intensive program with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, where she received training in Horton technique from Artistic Director of Ailey 2 Troy Powell, Derrick Mentor, Matthew Rushing and Solomon Dumas.  She was then asked to join their second dance company, Ailey 2, but chose to dedicate her time to continue pursuing her education.  Graduating from the University of Central Florida, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business with a minor in Dance.
